Running Injuries

Assessment and rehabilitation for runners, built around your injury, training and the demands of getting back on the road or trail.

Running Injury Treatment North Sydney

Running injuries can be influenced by a combination of training load, previous injury, strength, recovery and the physical demands of running. At The Movement Box, we assess your individual presentation rather than looking at the painful area in isolation. From recreational runners to experienced athletes, our North Sydney team combines clinical assessment with progressive rehabilitation to develop a plan around your current capacity and running goals.

Our practitioners assess and manage a range of running-related injuries and musculoskeletal concerns, including:

How Running Injury Rehab Works

Every runner brings a different training history, physical capacity and goal to rehabilitation. We start by understanding your injury and current running demands before developing a plan around your individual presentation. This may include strength and movement testing, running analysis, progressive exercise and modifications to your running where appropriate.

Running Injury FAQs

Running injuries and rehabilitation can look different for every runner. Here are answers to some common questions about running injury assessment and rehabilitation at The Movement Box.

Should I stop running if I have an injury?

Not necessarily. Whether running needs to be modified or temporarily stopped depends on your individual presentation. Following an assessment, your practitioner can discuss what level of running or alternative training may be appropriate.

When should I get a running injury assessed?

Consider having an injury assessed if symptoms persist, worsen, affect your normal running or everyday activities, or repeatedly return when you increase your training. Sudden or significant injuries may require more immediate assessment.

What happens during a running injury assessment?

We’ll discuss your symptoms, injury history, current training and running goals before completing an assessment relevant to your presentation. This may include movement, strength and functional testing, with running analysis incorporated where appropriate.

Does running injury rehabilitation include strength training?

Strength training may form part of your rehabilitation where appropriate. Our North Sydney clinic includes a fully equipped gym, allowing your program to progress from targeted exercises into more demanding strength and running-related work.

Can you help me return to running after an injury?

Return-to-running planning can form part of your rehabilitation. Your practitioner can consider your injury, current capacity, training history and goals when determining an appropriate progression back into running.
